Checklists for candidates

You want your exam to run as smoothly as possible. Make sure you have everything you need.

What to bring with you on exam day

  • On the day of the exam you will need photo identification (ID), for example your passport or national ID card. It must be an original (it cannot be a copy) and have your photo. School ID cards will not be accepted.
  • Bring pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners.
  • Only water is allowed on your desk in the exam room. Other food and drink will not be permitted on your desk during the exam.
  • Bags, phones, and any electronic devices cannot be brought into the exam room. A cloak room will be provided and manned at all times. We recommend leaving any electronic devices, which you do not wish to leave in the cloak room, at home.

During the exam

  • We will tell you where to put things you cannot have at your desk, e.g. your bags, phones etc.
  • There will be a clock in the exam room.
  • Your ID needs to be on your desk. Take it out of your bag before the exam starts.
  • The invigilator will read out instructions. Listen carefully and make sure you follow them. If you didn’t understand something, raise your hand to ask.
  • If you have any questions, want to leave the room or need help, raise your hand to ask.
  • Follow the instructions of the invigilator very carefully. If you break the rules or are thought to be cheating you will be removed from the exam. More information regarding this can be found under “Notice to Candidates” and “Summary Regulations for Candidates”.
  • At the beginning of the listening test, check that you can hear the test well enough. Raise your hand immediately if you cannot hear the recording.

At the end of the exam

  • When the invigilator tells you to stop writing, do so immediately.
  • When the invigilator collects your exam, give them all papers, including question papers, answer sheets, any notes you made, etc.
  • Stay in your seat until the invigilator says you can leave the room.
  • Tell the invigilator immediately if you have any questions or problems.
